This report for service providers describes data from the Best Start Resource Centre 2011 Ontario parent survey to examine awareness and behaviours regarding breastfeeding and alcohol use.

The objectives of this survey were to

1) Examine parents’ behaviour in terms of alcohol use while breastfeeding.

2) Explore awareness about the impact of alcohol use during breastfeeding.

Survey results will help service providers think about effective messages and strategies regarding alcohol use and breastfeeding.

This report serves as a baseline for future surveys that examine Ontario trends in parental behaviours, perceptions and attitudes related to breastfeeding and alcohol use.
