Description:
Participants attending this webinar will gain an understanding and appreciation for the role and value of Elder involvement in decision-making and in program planning and design of services intended to support Indigenous communities. Indigenous Elders pave the way toward change that strengthens family and community resiliency and sustainability. The role of Elders as Knowledge Keepers, life interpreters and guides is innately valued and respected in Indigenous communities. Young people feel empowered and strengthened by the guidance of the Elders and are validated by their cultural knowledge. Participants will also be familiarized with some of the resources recently developed by the Best Start Resource Centre to support parenting in Indigenous communities.
